When we first landed in Australia, we had two toddlers, student visas, and that slightly wild feeling of starting again from zero. The whole idea was to reinvent ourselves: so here we are.
Blule was at the very beginning of its Australian chapter.
Then a little bit of family magic happened.
My husband’s cousin’s wife, Casey, was the official reseller of Uashmama paper bags in Australia: those gorgeous Italian paper bags that somehow look chic even when they’re carrying snacks and random life stuff. She asked me to illustrate their catalogue: dreamy scenes of Tuscany, the Australian shop, and of course the bags themselves.

It was my very first commissioned job in Australia, and I’ll always remember how symbolic it felt: a bridge between Europe and our new home. Italy on my brush, Australia outside the window. Like I was painting my way across the transition.

And honestly: it went smoothly. No drama, no endless back-and-forth: just that rare, lovely project energy where everything clicks and you feel useful again. Creative again. Like: ok, we’re going to be alright here.

At the end of it, Casey and I (and our husbands) got so excited that we decided to build something together: a little family brand called Charlie Green Studio. It doesn’t exist anymore, but I have zero regrets. It was one of those beautiful early chapters that teaches you what you value: good people, family good vibes, and making something with heart.

Ready to Commission Your Own Piece?
This first commission marked the beginning of my journey in Australia, and I'd be curious and happy to create something meaningful with a human feel for your brand too.
