So you've fallen in love with one of my dragons (or maybe all 198 of them—I totally get it!) and now you're wondering which one belongs on your wall. Let me help you with that! 🐉
I still can't believe I got to paint all the dragons for Stonemaier Games' Wyrmspan. It was such an honor to be chosen for this project, and spending time creating 198 unique dragon personalities was honestly a dream come true. Now that I'm offering prints of these dragons, I want to help you find the perfect one for your home.
Whether you're a Wyrmspan fan, a fantasy art lover, or just someone who thinks dragons are cool (same!), here's my personal guide to choosing your dragon.
Let's Talk Sizes: A2 vs A3
I print my dragons in two sizes, and honestly, both are gorgeous—it just depends on your space and what you're going for.
A2 (42 × 59.4 cm / 16.5 × 23.4 inches) - The Statement Maker
This is the big one! I love A2 prints for:
- That empty wall above your sofa that's been bugging you
- Making a bold statement in your living room or office
- When you want ONE dragon to be the star of the show
- As the centerpiece of a gallery wall
I have an A2 of Zephira in my own living room, and every time I walk past, I'm like "Yeah, I painted that!" It's a great feeling.
A3 (29.7 × 42 cm / 11.7 × 16.5 inches) - The Versatile One
A3 is my go-to for:
- Smaller walls or cozy corners
- Creating a collection (I'm obsessed with gallery walls!)
- Hallways, entryways, or your desk
- When you can't choose just one dragon (relatable)
Here's a secret: A3 prints are perfect when you want to display 3-4 dragons together. The colors play off each other beautifully!
Choosing by Color (Because Let's Be Honest, That's What We Do First)
I also like to choose art based on color or colour harmony—it's just how my brain works! Here's how I think about matching dragons to your space:
Cool & Calming (Blues, Greens, Purples)
Think dragons like Willow with those stunning golden eyes, Sage in wise greens, Cerulean with sky-blue beauty, or Indigo (the blueberry-loving hatchling).
These work magic in bedrooms, bathrooms, or anywhere you want to feel calm. My kid as a few blue dragons in his bedroom, and they're so soothing to wake up to.
Warm & Cozy (Reds, Oranges, Yellows)
Dragons like Maple, Pumpkin, Sunrise, and Sunflower bring that warm, welcoming energy.
Perfect for living rooms, dining areas, or anywhere you gather with people. They make a space feel alive and inviting!
Soft & Dreamy (Neutrals & Pastels)
My ethereal babies like Ghost, Macaron, Blueblush, and Moonwake are so gentle and versatile.
These work EVERYWHERE. Seriously. Nurseries, minimalist spaces, Scandinavian vibes—they just fit.
Choosing by Personality (Yes, Dragons Have Personalities!)
Each dragon I painted has their own story and vibe. Sometimes you just connect with one, you know?
For Fun, Playful Spaces
Meet River (who will absolutely borrow your surfboard), Indigo (obsessed with blueberry pie), and Hayao (who only talks if you teach him a game first). These guys are perfect for kids' rooms or game rooms!
For Calm, Peaceful Spaces
Sage has ancient wisdom, Selenite brings hope, and Simeon has the kindest eyes. I love these for bedrooms or meditation spaces.
For Bold, Confident Spaces
Violette is fierce, Sophie is NOT your little princess (don't even try), and Aaron will lead you to Dragonland if your heart is pure. These are statement dragons!

Choosing a Dragon Guardian for Your Little One
This might be my favorite reason someone chooses a dragon—as a guardian for a newborn baby. There's something so magical about the idea of a dragon watching over your little one as they grow.
I love imagining a dragon print hanging in a nursery, becoming a familiar friend from day one. As your baby grows into a toddler, then a child, that dragon is always there—a constant, protective presence. They'll point at it, tell it stories, maybe even talk to it when they need a friend. It becomes part of their world.
My Favorite Dragon Guardians for Nurseries:
Gentle Protectors: Ghost (ethereal and calming), Moonwake (peaceful night guardian), Simeon (kind-hearted and gentle), or Moondog (playful and soft)
Playful Companions: Indigo (the sweet hatchling), Macaron (soft pastel colors), Cherrypop (sweet and cheerful), or Buttercup (sunny and warm)
Wise Watchers: Sage (ancient wisdom), Selenite (peaceful energy), Willow (gentle strength)

Choose a dragon whose colors match the nursery, or one whose personality resonates with the energy you want for your child. It's such a special gift—a guardian that grows with them through all their adventures.
Creating a Gallery Wall (My Favorite Thing!)
Okay, I'm slightly obsessed with gallery walls. Here are my favorite ways to display multiple dragons:
The Color Story
Pick 3-4 dragons in similar colors. Like Comete + Powder + Ghost for a dreamy pink-white vibe. So pretty!

The Personality Crew
Group dragons by their vibes—all the playful hatchlings together, or all the wise elders. It tells a story!

The Size Mix
This is my favorite! Put an A2 in the center with A3 prints around it. The size variation makes it so dynamic.

Let's Talk Framing (Because I Get Asked This A LOT)
Your dragon arrives unframed, which gives you total creative freedom! Here's what I recommend:
Why Standard Sizes Are Your Friend
I print everything in standard A2 and A3 sizes specifically so you don't need expensive custom framing. You can literally go to IKEA!
My Framing Tips:
Budget-friendly: IKEA's 40 × 50 cm frames fit A3 prints perfectly with a mount. They look professional and won't break the bank.
Online framing: There are tons of online framers where you just give them your measurements (29.7 × 42 cm for A3, 42 × 59.4 cm for A2), pick your style, and they ship it to you. Easy!
Local framer: This is my favorite option if you want something really special. Your local framer can help you choose the perfect frame and mat to make your dragon shine. Plus, you're supporting a local business!
Frame Styles I Love:
- Modern/Minimalist: Simple black, white, or dark wood with white matting
- Fantasy vibes: Gold or silver frames (so magical!)
- Natural: Light wood like oak or birch
- Bold: Deep charcoal or navy, and coloured matting.
Pro tip: Use a 2-3 inch white mat around your dragon—it gives them breathing room and makes the colors pop! And bring your print to the framer to match the white of the paper perfectly.
Why These Are Limited Edition (And Why That Matters)
Each dragon is limited to only 10 prints per size. Once they're gone, they're gone.
Here's why I do it this way:
- You're one of only 10 people in the world with that exact print. How cool is that?
- These are the dragons I was commissioned to create for Wyrmspan—they're part of board game history!
- Every print is signed and numbered by me personally
I love knowing that my dragons are going to homes where they'll be treasured, not mass-produced.
Taking Care of Your Dragon
Watercolors are beautiful but a bit delicate. Here's how to keep yours looking vibrant:
- Keep them out of direct sunlight (UV rays are not their friend)
- Use UV-protective glass when framing if you can.
- Avoid humid spots like bathrooms or kitchens
- Dust the frame gently with a soft cloth
